"Thank you from my staff to you and all your staff. The speed of 'turn-around' of the questionnaires is outstanding in anyone's terms." Headteacher
Mike Balding
Hello!
I am delighted to join the Unit. I have previously been a secondary Maths teacher in comprehensive schools in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire for 15 years. I held the position of Head of Maths for many years, as well as taking pastoral roles supporting staff absences as Head of Year 11 and Head of Year 7.
In my teaching and leadership roles, I was able to see how the SHEU survey was organised within the school and how the school and the public health team were able to use the data to support the curriculum, to evidence school initiatives and how the reports can be used for school applications for grants and awards.
As a family member of the founding member and other directors, it is great that I can join the unit and continue the great work that has continued to support young people across the country and to support research and public health teams in providing the support that the young people need in the challenges they face today.
Outside of the teaching world, I like to keep active with family and my individual sport of hockey being my main past time. I have taken up many positions within the hockey clubs I have been part of: Captain, Club Captain, Treasurer, Fixture Secretary, umpire and more recently supporting the junior section of my hockey club.
