Of course, on Radio, no-one can see your chin (LISTEN). Someone I met from a technical Support Desk did say I was taller in real life than I sounded on the phone...
One comment on the research: when doing my PhD over 20 years ago, I had a quick whizz through the existing research into effective communications, a subject which as McGuire notes has a long history, "or rather ... a long past". And one thing I did find out was that a message you reject when you are first presented with it, you might accept after a while.
