International surveys

Schools from many countries have used our services, including Eire, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Texas USA. The Health Related Behaviour Questionnaire (HRBQ) has been translated into most European languages over its 25-year history, most recently Turkish, and also Cantonese. We can supply English-language questionnaires to schools in any part of the world and adapt the content to suit local issues and school practices. Our new online questionnaire service means that postage costs and delays can vanish from consideration.

The HRBQ surveys provide baseline data that supports lesson and programme planning. The Schools Health Education Unit has, since 1977, worked with over 5,000 UK schools and holds data from over 626,000 pupils between 8 and 16 years of age.

One of the key features of this service is the ability of having your results compared (anonymously) with other International schools and young people in our unique databank. These comparative results greatly enhance your ability to plan programmes e.g. data about your young people's knowledge of health related risk behaviour enable you to respond with specific health promotion or awareness raising support

Data from an example report using primary, secondary schools and 'pyramid'* data is presented in the following pdf file and, comparisons are made with 'Your Area data' and data from young people in our databank. (pdf file) (*Pyramid data compares primary and secondary information)

Results can also be made available as teacher/health worker worksheets to prompt awareness and discussion.
