SHEU was established as the Schools Health Education Unit in 1977, but
we have done so much work that either isn't in schools, or isn't in
health education, that we now refer to ourselves as SHEU.
We have often been asked to support research carried out by other
institutions, and can assist with each stage of the process.
We have of course undertaken the planning, design, piloting and launch
of major surveys from scratch, and have conducted evaluation studies,
and details are given in the links on this page.
A couple of other things
that you might not know we can do for you are:
Report-writing
We are often asked to 'kick-start' the composition of local reports
based on our survey work. Many authorities have consulted with us right
the way through to publication. We have also been invited to attend
events as a reporter, resulting in publications like Asthma in the
Classroom (National Asthma Campaign).
Layout and printing
We design and typeset our own questionnaires, reports and our journal
Education and Health. We can undertake layout, desk-top publishing and
printing for surveys, booklets, and more substantial works.
Databank analysis
Our existing databanks of health-related behaviour can be analysed to
search for particular connections and has been borrowed for a number of
projects, most notably in the evaluation of the National Healthy Schools
Programme. [LINK]
